Following the event, Waldeck attended the NCE Bridges Awards, which gathers experts from across the industry to come together and recognise everyone’s achievements.

We were delighted to have been recognised as finalists in three categories:

  • Bridge Project Team of the Year
  • Innovation in Bridge Inspection
  • Bridge Management Project of the Year

As well as taking home the award for ‘Highly Commended’ for Bridge Management Project of the Year.

The comments from the judges for this category were:

“This submission is a very good example of how bridge inspection and management is to be carried out in the future for Network Rail. It embraces technology to recognise and address the issues and constraints Network Rail have, in particular the machine learning tool for masonry defect recognition, as well as offering both H&S and efficiency benefits.”

The shortlists come following Waldeck’s on-going collaboration with Network Rail’s R&D team, Routes and University Partners – Nottingham Trent and Birmingham City, who collaboratively have been supporting Network Rail’s aspirations to digitalise their approach to Masonry Bridge condition monitoring.

Thus far, a solution has been developed to leverage digital data to provide informed decision making for asset care over the entirety of its lifecycle, as well as supporting Network Rail’s ambition to create a Digital Railway.

Our cutting-edge solution revolutionises the way assets such as bridges can be managed, simplifying the planning, capturing, monitoring and maintenance of large asset portfolios.
